Thanks for your feedback. Fully agreed on the program going out too late.
There's a few reasons for that:
- We got suprised by the overwhelming CFP response. As I mentioned, one
week before it still looked very calm. I think if we pull in the deadline a
little bit, and get ourselves better tooling (discussions with linux
plumbers conf on trying out what they are using are already under way), we
should be able to get the CFP results out in 2 weeks, and the draft program
out in 3 (need some time to get confirmations).
- The other bit is that we didn't get any workshop proposals, since the CFP
neglected to mention that. We spent quite some time chatting with people
who submitted a handful of talks on similar topics to get some workshop
proposal in. I think if we address this and highlight workshop proposals
more, we should be able to get these into the program a bit earlier.
On scheduling conflicts: That's just life as soon as you have more than 1
track. And workshops in the big plenary just don't work, too many people.
We've tried to overlap them not too badly, but since we received more than
half proposals around mesa it was hard to avoid conflicts.

Thanks. Drew also mentions the lack of compositor/winsys talks. We got
very, very few (I think only 2 or so), and ended up picking Keith's talk on
frame timing. If you want to see more compositor talks, then we need to get
them in the CFP (as talks or workshops), since they're very much in scope
for XDC imo. Might be good if we know some places (mailing lists or blog
planets) where we should feature the CFP. Or compositor people can forward
it and do some good PR for themselves.
Cheers, Daniel
