And I didn't claim his employer forbids him from engaging with citizen
journalists. Did I?

There was no such chance in the first place. I gave them plenty of
time to say something, and no one did.
Right now they could simply say "I'm a developer committed to
maintaining Xorg for the foreseeable future, but I don't want to
answer any questions".
Will they?
