I made some more tests but I am not able to identify what log entries
are decisive. Therefore complete logfiles attached here.

What I tried to find out is whether the X-server starts after creating
the MTRR storage areas using a bash command echo "base=.." >|
/proc/mtrr. It is not the case. But it reduces the number of error
messages. Thus, probably two mtrr storage areas are involved. I also
wonder about the meaning of the output for "count".

The logfiles of verbosity level 6 do not differ much to those of the
default level 3. In case You need more verbosity, tell it to me.

Attached You find

- a logging file of my bash operations, showing the commands and the
state of the MTRR storage area.

- a (commented) part of the dmesg record. Initially during boot. In
the middle lines that I regard as related to the graphic card. At
the end, there are entries related to systemd calls for xdm / the X
server as well as entries from my Xorg invocations.

- the Xorg logfiles resulting from the varios conditions before
  invoking Xorg.

Best regards
Markus
