Xorg shutdown causes Slackware 14.2 to freeze completely

The X log here shows you using the vesa driver. You would almost
certainly be better off using the intel driver, but your kernel appears
not to support it:

I think Kabylake support was added in 4.5? But we're on 4.14 by now,
probably it's wise to update your kernel anyway.
