unset Xft.dpi how?

This is true at least for Intel, AMD and NVidia gfxchip drivers. Xrandr can
usually produce a comparable result. One or the other may be required instead
to work around bugs[1]. But, Xft.dpi overrides the Xorg computed result for
all modern apps, and many that aren't so modern. My problem is how to unset
Xft.dpi, allowing the X server calculation to affect all X apps. Apparently
this may be impossible in Cinnamon, as it apparently is in Gnome.
