Intel, xrandr and performance.

KDE 4 has a lot of desktop effects and defaults to using a OpenGL backend for 
the effects. For Intel chipsets I would personally recommend using the XRender 
backend. I use this at work and have been pleasantly surprised with how well 
the Intel driver and chipset handles it. You can change backend under System 
Settings -> Desktop -> Desktop Effects -> Advanced. You can also disable them 
for a KDE 3.5 like experience.
