It's a 945-series (Thinkpad x60).

I find this very unlikely.  I just reproduced two ways, using mplayer and
gstreamer's gst-launch.  In both cases, forcing them to use xvideo
(overlay) results in errors like

X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)

Textured video, in the form of "mplayer -vo gl", works fine, but of course
is slower than realtime due to the lack of DRI.
