Just for the screenreader case: that's what ultrasonix used to do to get
the text from applications. But nowadays it's impractical as you just
see pango-rendered pixmaps flying by ;)

Anyway, yes, screenreaders need to capture and synthesize things, and
for that they use Record & Test.
