Actually, there is a small difference which I deemed more use- than
harmful. I'm talking about the non-visible state reset timer, which
kicks in after 200 ms and centers the pointer in the pixel it is in,
i.e. flushes sub-pixel information. You can disable that, see the wiki page.

Newer servers don't use that anymore since they expose sub-pixel
information.
