No, 2.3.0 is working fine.  I've tried isolating the change that causes
the hang, but with no success (limited hacking time this week).

2.3.1 works fine on my other system, which is 865G based (also an Asus,
P4P800-VM).

The X server in both cases is Debian's 2:1.4.1~git20080507-1 .  I will
try to do some more testing this weekend, and file a bug either way.
