It's all fairly logical. Either the graphics toolkit supplies all
transforms up front (all it needs is a list of destination devices each
element will be rendered to), or the compositing layer would callback to
the toolkit to supply the necessary transforms on demand. They could be
supplied by linking or from the link cache. This would all be part of
the API between the graphics toolkit and the color transform capable
compositing layer.
