This weekend trying find out what is bad on xserver 1.4+ and don't find
any. I had install pre Xorg 7.3.1 on my old laptop (year 2001) with one
s3 savage, works but don't works great. I downgrade all (a good thing
of rpms) to Fedora 8 updated (with xserver 1.3) and works is even
worst.

On Linuxs box, I think, 1.4+ works better than 1.3 , the new drives for
the news computers works better on 1.4+. Developers of drives tend to
put thing working against xserver 1.4+

So far, I had test on 2 Intels, 1 Ati Radeon 9200SE (r200) and 1 S3
Savage Twister and all just work better with 1.4+.

In my point of view, the problem could be the legacy, which is a kind of
complex keep it all update. So a note on release 7.3.1, could be, that
this released is more for new drives and computers on Linux. And
problems of legacy stuff should be sent to the new major released ...

I'd not be here writing this email , if I don't think that is important
release or upgrade X from server 1.3 to 1.4.1

yap , release is practically put a note on homepage, that is released.
But many packers wait for that.

- xorg-x11-drv-evdev-1.2.0
- xorg-x11-drv-savage-2.1.3-103.20080302
- synaptics-0.15
