order of XV ports

Yes. You may patch the xv-enabled application instead.  :-)

AFAIK, there is no other way than these three solutions:

- use mplayer -vo xv:port=xx
- patch driver
- patch application


Which is what I did with xine. Clearly a suboptimal solution.
