xserver (xf86-video-intel) hang on monitor detection

I've seem to have a problem with the latest release of the xserver and
intel driver.  (Tested on both xorg7.2 and the latest git; problem
doesn't exist on 7.1).  During screen initialization, the xserver hangs
while consuming 100% of the CPU.

This is on a Core2Duo macbook which has the i945 graphics chip.

Is this a known problem?  I wasn't able to find anything that sounded
similar when I searched the list.
