randr-1.2 rotation doesn't use composite hook with a transform

I've been trying to implement rotation support into the nouveau
driver, by filling the shadow hooks and setting the crtc base
correctly. This works but it is slow, suggesting software rendering.

My understanding is that it should use the composite hook to rotate
and transfer the image to the shadow area.

It does seem to call composite very frequently, but not with a transform.

I'm using xserver git.

Any idea what could be wrong?
