I have a friend who outputs at 1280x768 via a DVI ADD2 card on i945G and
has no problems. It's not so much the oddity of 1920x1080 as a
resolution that concerns me but rather if it exceeds some limit of the
hardware.

I know that the graphics processor is able to handle this resolution no
problem, and I know that DVI specification allows for 1920x1080 at 60Hz
over single link DVI (thanks Wikipedia), so all signs point to the i945G
supporting this, yet I am seeing some sources say that 1600x1200 is the
max resolution for DVI for i945G. I'm seeing other sources that say
1920x1080 is (notably the the Apples based on this chipset).

Cheers,
Jason.
