Hi all,
I have had consistent yet intermittent X.org crashes. I have been
experiencing random GUI login while being inside of session. Also the
session is not saved as it is. as in graceful shutdown.
After few minutes, hrs. suddenly one is kicked off the existing
session & dumped back to the login screen. The system does not go to halt,
or reboot or anything like that. It just takes you to the login. When one
logs back in, then all the things one was working in the session just before
is not there. Although all the changes of work have been saved by the
various applications. It is as if there was no session in-between.
I have put the above said crash report at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/104223 with the
necessary X.org, messages logs etc. The person responsible for building the
2.0 debs are with a certain Timo Aaltonen
https://launchpad.net/~tepsipakki/. He seems to be as passionate for
all things in display as people here.
As far as testing goes, I have an i845 chipset :-

 lspci | Grep
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation
82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03)
There is also another thread at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-i810-modesetting/+bug/90213where
people are trying to test it.

Anyways, I am willing to test provided I get a proper .deb for it.
Building a .deb from .tar.gz is not the best use of my skills :) So hoping
that powers that are can find some use for it. :)
