no 1280x1024 res

I'm trying to utilize my newly purchased Samsung SyncMaster 701N at
1280x1024 resolution with no luck.
I tried using both the nv/nvidia drivers with my GeForce4 MX 4000. My
Xorg log says: 
(WW) NVIDIA(0): No valid modes for "1280×1024"; removing.
I've double checked my refresh rates from the specs off samsung's site
and gone through gtf to give me a Modeline entry of this:
Modeline "1280x1024_75.00"  138.54  1280 1368 1504 1728  1024 1025 1028
1069  -HSync +Vsync
I'm using debian's xserver-xorg version 7.0.22. I've tried everything i
can think of.
Hope someone can give me a bit of help.
