Trouble installing X11R6

Hello to all,

Nice to be in the list. Man, i really need some help, i've tried a lot of things and couldn't get anywhere... let me explain first.

I got some problems with my cups, then i reinstalled it, but when it finished, i didn't see what it brought together, but something uninstalled something of my X, then i lost the GUI.

When it started, i typed "startx" and as response it gave me two errors, one about missing "bitmap" and another missing "pcidata", i copied these files ("libbitmap.a" and "libpcidata.a") from another computer with the same system here and the error about "bitmap" was gone, but the "pcidata" one became an error about incompatible versions...

i couldn't find a package (from apt-get) with the damn 'pcidata', walking through some forums i heard it can't be find in any package, it's that true?

then i tried to 'dpkg -i' directly from /var/cache/apt/archives, but xserver-xorg had incompatibility version with the xserver-xorg-video-* (the video drivers), so, everything is incompatible with everything, (what really helps ¬¬).

Then i tried to download X11R6 directly from X.org, i followed the instructions, but my "make world <& world.log" gave me a lot of errors i can't understand...

I can't format and reinstall because it's the library system here.

i am using kurumin 5.1, debian-based, knoppix based.

Helping or not, i'll be thankful... And, of course, i'll try to help guys in trouble here with the little i know... =)

ah, one more thing, the answers of the email come direct to my inbox?

 That's it, thanx for everyone
