Two Radeon Cards, Dell Dimension, Linux and x.org

If I load the DRI module and use a layout (I generally try "DualDisplay"[1])
that activates both cards, X locks up the computer right around the time it
blanks the screen.  It doesn't respond to keyboard or any other input, and I
have to do a hard reboot.  Here's the log from my latest attempt:

Rebooting and modprobing radeon beforehand does not seem to matter.
