Is XGI's "Volari XP5" supported?

Hi,

I plan to maybe buy a  laptop with XGI's "Volari XP5", however I read
that this chip is currently not supported in xorg-6.9 although based
on a trident core. Has this changed since then?
And if yes, how ~well~ should I expect it to work? I am only
interested in 2d accaleration, 3d is completly uninterresting for me.
