i810 problem with external montior

I was able to use the 915resolution hack to get 1280x768 into the bios, and
convince the driver to use the resolution. However, this monitor is a
finicky one, and the display is not cenered. Can I make adjustments with a
mode line in the xorg.conf, or does the i810 driver ignore it and just base
its timing on the resolution in the bios mode?
