DEs? What about bunch of users who don't need DE features at all, and
just use other WMs (especially when they prefer other interface
paradigms, not the WIMP)?

KDE/Gnome are ok while there is no tendence to say "it's the only
KDE/Gnome on the X desktop, and others are banned".
