xscreensaver doesn't play well with empty passwords

1)  Xscreensaver has about a half dozen different methods of checking
     your password, depending on your OS/config - without knowing whether
     you are using PAM or crypt(3c) or something else, it will be hard to
     diagnose - at least mentioning the OS/distro name/version would be a
     good start.

2)  Xscreensaver isn't an X.Org program.   The maintainer is Jamie
     Zawinski and details on how to report bugs to him is at:
