status of hotplug input devices?

Hello Xorg folks!

The last discussions I could find regarding hotplug support for input devices
is from last year. Is this something that's still being developed?

We've got Wacom tablets multiplying like rabbits over here, and it'd be great
to use USB switchers to thin the herd.
