and not really my point.  poorly phrased comments like that tend to be
regurgitated as such, e.g., (no need to mention which said this):

	you will care about this a lot less once you stop using xterm and start
	using something a decade or two less obsolete like, well, anything
	else.  For example, gnome-terminal.  xterm is completely unmaintained;
	I don't know why they even ship it any more.

I maintain local RCS's of each of the programs I maintain, true - and make
available versions which appear to be stable - it's a development practice
which appears to be underappreciated.  For some people, having an archive in a
publicly readable CVS serves their purpose.
