That's my goal; but it's not trivial -- we still want to support 'VT 
switch' in a robust fashion, which means respecting device access while 
switched away so that other applications sharing the same devices 
(keyboard, mouse and screen) have exclusive access while they run.

Ideally, there would be real kernel support for this so that the X server 
wouldn't have to cooperate (as it does today for mice and other 
non-keyboard input devices).
