video card / monitor identification

Hi,

I have not much experience with X. So I ask some simple questions ;)

How is it possible to get device names or identifiers for
video cards and monitors? What I want to know is:
  manufacturer
  product
  product ID
of these both devices.
Does an unique ID allready exist for the combination of both?

The xprop -root command gives me the XFree86_DDC_EDID1_RAWDATA of the
monitor. How is DDC to interprete?
