radeon driver - Display becomes corrupted with GIMP!

I'm assuming you updated the driver and that caused the problem?  Does:
Option "ColorTiling" "False"
in the device section of your xorg.conf fix the issue?  If so you are
probably seeing this bug:

You might try the xserver patch there.
