Quest for a dual with independent desktops

This can be accomplished with any hardware that supports Zaphod mode as
well.

When Zaphod was dropped from the radeon driver previously, I switched
from fluxbox+zaphod to AwesomeWM+xrandr so that I could keep my
independent desktops (esp the seperate switching of virtual desktops on
each side), but I still haven't been that happy with it. Any new
revelations on it would be great to know about. The only thing I gained
with xrandr was the ability to move stuff between the two sides, which
has been nice, but not critical.
