[Bug 29852] Changing external monitors requires X restart

Can you attach your xorg log, dmesg output, and the output of xrandr --verbose?
 Does turning off the monitor between connections help?  e.g.,
xrandr --output VGA-0 --off
xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto
