Just checked out the ATI driver sources with git-clone from
git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/driver/xf86-video-ati

Ran autogen and make, killed X server, copied over the newly built driver and
re-started X server.

I can confirm the same issue exists that I originally had.

Will attach config and log files.
