OK, just a small reference to:

in my case, booting the kernel with options:
nohz=off irqpoll
seems to solve the issue (I don't need AGP parameter in xorg.conf nor USB mouse
anymore)
These options solve my freeze problems for both radeon and fglrx drivers. Maybe
this helps?
