I now also have smooth playback with 6.9.0. I confirm everything
is fine with 6.9.0 and Radeon 9000.

So the ati driver does exactly what I want, the problem now
is that I don't really want to use the Radeon 9000. Does the ati
driver support any integrated chips that are still used in
currently sold motherboards? And are any likely to permit
PAL timings from VGA?

I know there's radeonhd for modern cards, but I get the
impression it isn't quite as mature as the ati driver. I tried
it with an integrated X1250, and had a number of problems.

Cheers,
