Thanks, you're right. I just yesterday installed KDE 4.2 Beta, and know
fullscreen-apps seem to be rendered directly by default, and VSync is working
nicely (that's without EXAVsync enabled). KDE 4.1's KWIN afaik had no option to
unredirect fullscreen windows.

I suspect this is a compiz-bug. I remember trying to use this option awhile ago
when I was using fglrx, and iirc it didn't work as well.
