You need to post the card for it to be usable.  The video bios
normally does this at boot to initialize the video card.  On non-x86
platforms you'll need either support for posting x86 video roms in
your boot loader or you'll have to make sure the x86 emulator in the
xserver is working on your platform and use it to post the card.  On
ati cards, you can also use tables in the bios to manually initialize
the cards.  There is code to do this for your card in more recent
versions of the radeon driver, but it's not well tested and is
disabled by default.
