Hello,

This has been submitted on gitlab as a merge request for a while,
but I did not manage to get any feedback, so trying to post it on
the development mailing list.

With this change Xft using applications such as rxvt-unicode, st,
pango or emacs gain the ability to display color emojis.

I have been running with this custom patch on my system and fixed
all issues I encountered so far, no new issues appeared in the last
two weeks.
