Looks like that wasn't thorough enough:

(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libdri.so
(II) Module dri: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
        compiled for 7.4.0, module version = 1.0.0
(II) Loading extension XFree86-DRI
(II) Loading sub module "fglrxdrm"
(II) LoadModule: "fglrxdrm"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module fglrxdrm
(II) UnloadModule: "fglrxdrm"
(EE) Can't load FireGL DRM library (libfglrxdrm.so).
(II) UnloadModule: "dri"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libdri.so
(EE) Failed to load module "dri" (a required submodule could not be loaded, 0)

Apparently at least /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so was still
from fglrx.

Anyway, the black screen might be unrelated to this but due to a failure
to detect / drive the LVDS panel correctly. Maybe others can help with
that.

FWIW, I strongly recommend against installing it unpackaged, that's more
or less asking for problems like above. Even if the Debian packages
aren't suitable for some reason, the fglrx installer should be able to
generate .debs.
