I'd like to know which hardware is going to need this particular fallback?

Right, I'll work on identifying which GL bits are needed for each new
patch and make sure those are only enabled if supported so that we don't
have any code that fails during X server execution.

Can you try my latest glamor-server branch and see if that has been
fixed? I added the conditional offset stuff as suggested by you and Eric
to that.
