How to build xserver (inputproto error)

Hi All,

I've been trying to build and install the latest version of the xserver due
to https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1275. The issue
appeared when updating to the latest Nvidia Linux drivers and now prevents
the prototype XRDP Nvidia integration from working using MATE (Yes, XRDP
can work with Nvidia, talk to me if you want more info!).

However, when trying to build, I consistently get this error message:

*Dependency inputproto found: NO found 2.3.2 but need: '>= 2.3.99.1'Found
CMake: /usr/bin/cmake (3.16.3)Run-time dependency inputproto found: NO
(tried pkgconfig and cmake)Looking for a fallback subproject for the
dependency inputproto*

I have tried to build and install xorgproto and various branches of it, but
this error always persists.

Note that *uname -a returns:*

*Linux [computer name] 5.13.0-27-generic #29~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 14
00:32:30 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux*

Any ideas on how to unblock this build?

Thanks!
