Hi
Since we upgraded to xorg-server version 1.20.1, we keep seeing the following entries in Xorg.log:
[ 1133.866] (WW) modeset(0): Page flip failed: Cannot allocate memory
[ 1133.981] (WW) modeset(0): flip queue failed: Cannot allocate memory
[ 1133.981] (WW) modeset(0): Page flip failed: Cannot allocate memory
[ 1133.981] (EE) modeset(0): present flip failed
[ 1134.011] (WW) modeset(0): flip queue failed: Cannot allocate memory
[ 1134.011] (WW) modeset(0): Page flip failed: Cannot allocate memory
[ 1134.011] (EE) modeset(0): present flip failed
You will find a full Xorg.log output attached.
This does not happen when running the same application using Xorg-server version 1.19.3.
The errors are similar to the ones described in this thread:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104598
but with a different chipset (Intel Atom Z36xxx/Z37xxx in my case, i915 kernel driver, i965 DRI) and without running the vkmark tool (we run a JavaFX application):
[root at host]# uname -a
host 3.10.0-957.1.3.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Nov 15 17:36:42 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
[root at host]# lspci -k

XOrg.log DRI:
[ 90.222] (II) modeset(0): [DRI2] Setup complete
[ 90.222] (II) modeset(0): [DRI2] DRI driver: i965
[ 90.223] (II) modeset(0): [DRI2] VDPAU driver: i965
Screen looks ok, no artefacts, app display looks normal, but it produces a lot of useless logs.
Anyone know what the problem is and what can be done about it?
Thank you
Best regards
Nicolas
