Fedora 24 upgrade breaks GDM seg fault and caught signal 11

The graphics card is a 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro
Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series] I
tried using the instructions at to upgrade the driver
https://github.com/imageguy/fglrx-for-Fedora no difference even with the
patch.
