black screen on startx exit

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55982 sort of looks like might 
cover this, but if not, where is the most likely place a new report belongs? 
Startx? Systemd? Kernel? Freedesktop? If the latter, radeon driver? Some 
other component?

This has been happening with 3.15 & 3.16 kernels on Cauldron and Rawhide, but 
not Factory, with all servers since back to somewhere around 1.15.latest, 
with older gfxchips, like rv200 & nv11 (no such problem with rv250 or i845G).
