yes, 'xset fp+ /home/user/Desktop/Fonts'.

yes, here's the log snippet:

xset:  bad font path element (#7), possible causes are:
     Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions
     Directory missing fonts.dir
     Incorrect font server address or syntax
