positioning X on part of the screen ( broken LCD on old laptop )

Hello Samuel,

Thank you very much for the suggestion. It works like a charm. I was wondering if there is an option in xorg.conf
where I can define framebuffer size and not use xrandr any more? I am not able to find such an option in the manual.
Any hints?
