Thomas, thank you for your response. I have been busy at work and this
is a side-endeavor, so I haven't had a chance to look at the system
until today.

I think it's the LVDS1 screen that is the problem. The output looks
very similar with KDE running, but it must somehow ignore that first
screen. I do not notice the TV1 output being a problem.

CTWM just works with X11, so the config issue is in X11. I am using
CTWM with no problems under gentoo and have been for years.

No, to look at the screen it looks normal, but all the stuff that is
placed at coordinates in the first 1024 pixels to the left is not
visible.
