Curious mouse scroll/tilt wheel problem

Hello,

I have a Logitech G500 and the scroll/tilt wheel has stopped working in
a number of games if the mouse is moving, hold the mouse still and it
works fine. All the mouse buttons including the wheel button work fine.

"xinput test" doesn't detect any mouse button events but does detect
movement and scroll/tilt events and both at the same time. "xinput
test-xi2" and xev detect all movement, buttons and scroll/tilt.

Enemy Territory, ETQW, Doom 3, Quake 4, Urban Terror, Darwinia and
Defcon all have this problem (probably some others out there too).
Testing xonotic 0.6, no problem with xonotic-glx but it was present in
xonotic-sdl.

I'm on Arch Linux 64bit, here's a bit of the log from the upgrade that
caused this:

upgraded glproto (1.4.14-1 -> 1.4.15-1)
upgraded inputproto (2.0.2-1 -> 2.2-1)
upgraded xcb-proto (1.6-2 -> 1.7-2)
upgraded libxcb (1.7-2 -> 1.8.1-1)
upgraded lib32-libxcb (1.7-3 -> 1.8.1-1)
upgraded libx11 (1.4.4-1 -> 1.4.99.1-1)
upgraded lib32-libx11 (1.4.4-1 -> 1.4.99.1-1)
upgraded libxi (1.4.5-1 -> 1.6.0-1)
upgraded lib32-libxi (1.4.5-1 -> 1.6.0-1)
upgraded libxt (1.1.2-1 -> 1.1.2-2)
upgraded libpciaccess (0.12.1-1 -> 0.13-1)
upgraded libxft (2.3.0-1 -> 2.3.0-2)
upgraded xf86-input-evdev (2.6.0-4 -> 2.7.0-1)
upgraded xorg-server-common (1.11.4-1 -> 1.12.0-1)
upgraded xorg-server (1.11.4-1 -> 1.12.0-1)
upgraded xorg-xinput (1.5.3-2 -> 1.5.99.1-1

Thanks for xorg and any help,
Sam
