Vesa drv very slow on new hardware (NVS295)

Hi,

I just want to submit you a problem I face.

Here is the background: we maintain an old X/motif application, but we need to provide it with (recent) hardware station.

Our application start it's own X server at start-up (we are in run level 3). We used mwm as window manager.

Our previous workstation was an HP XW4600 (with a Quadro NVS 290). Everything run well, the graphics were fast enough.
We've only configured our xorg.conf with vesa driver but nv driver run as well.

Today we're looking for a replacement workstation, I've tried a Dell T5500 and HP Z400 (both with a NVS 295). Actually, we use RedHat (RHEL5.5) and both stations are certified.

Nv driver do not work with NVS295, so we keep our previous xorg.conf (with vesa).
With these new stations, the graphics lags, (in some kind of situation 5X slower then with the XW4600). I don't succeed to reproduce similar results with x11perf. Furthermore if I put the "old" NVS 290 in the new workstation, the graphics are also very slow.

=> Same system (RHEL 5.5), same graphic card (NVS 290), same configuration, different (more powerful) motherboard, and the graphics are slower!

With the latest nvidia driver, the behaviour is correct and fast but I would prefer using an open driver.

I haven't seen something special in the Xorg.log; the only problem is with the V_BIOS checksum.
We are using Xorg 7.1.1 (RedHat 5.5)

In attachment my xorg.conf and Xorg.log

Maybe some of you turns into a similar situation and can give me some tips??

Thanks for any hints,

Sly
