The certificate and its signature are invalid only through the goggles your
specific browser is wearing. I suppose we could argue about the benefits and
woes of Certificate Authorities themselves for the better part of an
eternity, but why don't you just suck it up and impot CACert's class1 and
class3 roots into your trusted certificate store? It's at least as good as
any other "hey, just give us your CC and a 100 bucks, and we'll confirm you
to be anyone you could ever want to impose!"-CA, so I don't see how this
minor detail could be blocking the road for anything or anyone...
