since you intend to push 1.7.5, maybe you can include my first ptr accel
xorg.conf.man changes along with fenando's corrections? I hope this
lessens the chance of ppl wasting time with evdev scaling patches or
hitting the ML in general.

I don't have a commit ref yet, but you said it's in your repos :)
